Why is my birthday good this year?

Let's see:

-- It's Opening Day (and last night was good too, as I have both Yook and Pedroia on my fantasy team.)

-- REM celebrates its 30th anniversary

-- and I'm taking a day off. Nice right?

Separated at birth?

Kreese_ulsrud

Maybe it's me. Maybe I was blinded by the pants in today's Olympic men's curling final. But Norway's Thomas Ulsrud sure looked like Karate Kid's evil sensei, John Kreese....

Toyota: Nice going, blabbermouth!

A prominent Toyota executive told the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Tuesday that company’s huge recall might “not totally” solve the problem of unintended sudden acceleration in its vehicles.

Other Toyota executives say, "Dude! Shut up!!!"

And a classic...

From the same LP as "Stacey's Mom". Truly awesome.

My new earworm...

Thanks to the Olympics, AT&T and Gretchen Bleiler, Perfect Day is now my earworm. Not necessarily a bad thing, however.

I'm too much of a Bruce Campbell/CSI:M fanboy to let this go!

How intensely awesome would it be if Bruce Campbell were Horatio Caine? (Although, hopefully, he wouldn't charge for his freakin' autograph at Miami Comic-Con. C'mon, Ash!)

Quick music notes: Avenged Sevenfold, Vampire Weekend

Heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, whose drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan passed away in December 2009, will be recording its next album with the help of Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy.

Portnoy, considered one of the more technically brilliant drummers in rock, said he was "truly honored to have been asked to play with them and I didn't even have to think twice about saying yes," according to a statement (via AntiMusic.com).

• Vampire Weekend is that rare band who still spends a good deal of thought in making videos. In their newest for the song "Giving Up The Gun", they were able to get cameos from Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil Jon, Joe Jonas and the Wu-Tang Clan's RZA for a cool video about a series of tennis matches:

Hey, Bruce Campbell fans! Does NBC’s Olympics music sound familiar?

This might've been spotted by those Winter Olympics fans who also have been following the career of Bruce Campbell for a long time, but a Lost producer let us all in on a little NBC secret: Some of their music isn't exactly original.

Where's all the old stuff?!

If you're interested in my old musings about music, the Capitals, and paper towels, you can always go to my old site. I'm not deleting my account anytime soon!

The new site...

I'm making a switch from WordPress to Posterous, because I'm still interested in blogging, but not necessarily interested in galumping around, trying to find time to get onto WordPress and post. This is a little simpler. Please enjoy the new stylings... :)
